The AER 105P is a toughened, low-temperature cure epoxy resin from Azista Composites, provided as solvent-free, hot melt epoxy prepregs. This material is highly versatile, exhibiting good tack and drape characteristics , and can be efficiently processed using methods such as Autoclave, Vacuum bagging, and Compression moulding.
Key Product Properties & Applications
Glass Transition Temperature (Tg): The resin is specially formulated to achieve a moderate Tg of 120°C (248°F).
Cure Temperature: The standard curing temperature is 130°C (266°F).
Density: Cured Resin Density 1.16 g/cc.
Primary Applications: AER 105P is well-suited for various high-performance parts, including Prosthetics, Structural components for UAV, Automobile structural applications, and Sports goods.
Mechanical Performance Highlights (Laminates)
The resin system provides robust mechanical properties when paired with different fabric types (tested per ASTM standards):
T300, 3K, Plain Weave Carbon: Achieves a high Tensile Strength (Warp) of 735.5 MPa and Flexural Strength (Warp) of 801 MPa under Hot Press curing. The In-Plane Shear Strength (IPSS) is strong at 109 MPa.
T300, 3K, Twill Weave Carbon: Under Vacuum Bagging, this laminate delivers a Flexural Strength (Warp) of 768 MPa and an Inter-Laminar Shear Strength (ILSS) of 67 MPa.
7781, 8H Satin Weave Glass: This configuration shows good tensile properties, with a Tensile Strength (Weft) of 508 MPa and Flexural Strength (Weft) of 639 MPa.
Processing & Handling Guidelines
Storage: The prepreg should be stored at −18°C.
Life: It offers an excellent Shelf life of 12 months at −18°C. Importantly, it maintains a long out life of up to 30 days at 22°C.
Recommended Cure Cycle (2 mm laminate):
Heat Up: Ramp from Room Temperature (RT) to the cure temperature of 130°C at a rate of 2°C/min.
Dwell: Hold the temperature at 130°C for a dwell time of 1 hour.
Cooling: Cool down at a controlled rate of less than 1°C/min.
