APR 201P – Hot-Melt Phenolic Prepreg

APR 201P is a hot-melt, solvent-free phenolic prepreg from Azista Composites, designed for void-free components in a safe working environment. It is a versatile Resol-type resin suitable for aerospace, railway, and thermal protection applications.

Thermal Performance & Storage

• Glass Transition Temperature (Tg): 170 °C.
• Char Yield: 44 wt.% at 1000 °C.
• Cured Resin Density: 1.19 g/cc.
• Storage Recommendations:
  • Store at −18 °C (Shelf Life: 6 months)
  • Out-life: up to 21 days at 22 °C

Mechanical Strength Highlights

• T-300 Carbon Laminate (Vf 60%):
  • Tensile Strength: 822 MPa
  • Flexural Strength: 794 MPa
• 7781 Glass Laminate (Vf 54.5%):
  • Flexural Strength: 474 MPa
  • Inter-Laminar Shear Strength (ILSS): 44 MPa

Recommended Cure Cycles

• Thin Laminates (2–10 mm):
  • 0.5 hr dwell at 120 °C
  • 2–3 hr final cure at 180 °C
  • Heating Rate: 3 °C/min
• Thick Laminates (15–60 mm):
  • Multi-step cure with slow heating (0.5 °C/min)
  • Multiple dwells at 100 °C, 120 °C, 150 °C
  • Final 3 hr dwell at 180 °C
